  Kinetis EA series MCUs for automotive provide an automotive-grade, scalable, 32-bit portfolio with a broad ARM ecosystem for a wide range of automotive applications. The EA series is pin compatible with Freescale’s 8-bit S08RN family and include a powerful array of analog, communication and timing and control peripherals with specific Flash memory size and pin counts. This MCU series offers low-power, built on the ARM®-Cortex® M0+ core, high-robustness and cost-efficiency to provide automotive developers with an optimized ARM-based solution. This series was designed with EMC/ESD in mind to ensure strong noise immunity and low radiated emissions.

  – Internal clock source (ICS) - internal FLL with internal or external reference, 37.5 kHz pretrimmed internal reference for 48 MHz system clock

  – Internal 1 kHz low-power oscillator (LPO)

  • System peripherals

  – Power management module (PMC) with three power modes: Run, Wait, Stop

  – Low-voltage detection (LVD) with reset or interrupt, selectable trip points

  – Watchdog with independent clock source (WDOG)

  – Programmable cyclic redundancy check module (CRC)

  – Serial wire debug interface (SWD)

  – Aliased SRAM bitband region (BIT-BAND)

  – Bit manipulation engine (BME)

  • Security and integrity modules

  – 80-bit unique identification (ID) number per chip

  • Human-machine interface

  – Up to 71 general-purpose input/output (GPIO)

  – Two 32-bit keyboard interrupt modules (KBI)

  – One 16-channel 12-bit SAR ADC, operation in Stop mode, optional hardware trigger (ADC)

  – Two analog comparators containing a 6-bit DAC and programmable reference input (ACMP)

  – Two 2-channel FlexTimer/PWM (FTM)

  – One 2-channel periodic interrupt timer (PIT)

  The TRK-KEA128 development platform for the Kinetis EA series 32-bit ARM®-based MCUs is the most robust of this series featuring 128 KB of Flash and CAN module for body applications. These scalable and low-power devices are supported by a broad enablement ecosystem that includes software drivers, operating systems, example codes and application notes to help you quickly implement your designs.
