Description

The ISL21009 FGA™ voltage references are extremely low power, high precision, and low noise voltage references fabricated on Intersil's proprietary Floating Gate Analog technology. The ISL21009 features very low noise (4.5µVP-P for 0.1Hz to 10Hz), low operating current (180µA, Max), and 3ppm/°C of temperature drift. In addition, the ISL21009 family features guaranteed initial accuracy as low as ±0.5mV.

Description

The ISL9110 and ISL9112 are highly-integrated Buck-Boost switching regulators that accept input voltages either above or below the regulated output voltage. Unlike other Buck-Boost regulators, these regulators automatically transition between operating modes without significant output disturbance.

Both parts are capable of delivering up to 1.2A output current, and provide excellent efficiency due to their fully synchronous 4-switch architecture. No-load quiescent current of only 35µA also optimizes efficiency under light-load conditions. Forced PWM and/or synchronization to an external clock may also be selected for noise sensitive applications.

The ISL9110 is designed for standalone applications and supports 3.3V and 5V fixed output voltages or variable output voltages with an external resistor divider. Output voltages as low as 1V, or as high as 5.2V are supported using an external resistor divider.

The ISL9112 supports a broader set of programmable features that may be accessed via an I2C bus interface. With a programmable output voltage range of 1.9V to 5V, the ISL9112 is ideal for applications requiring dynamically changing supply voltages. A programmable slew rate can be selected to provide smooth transitions between output voltage settings.

The ISL9110 and ISL9112 require only a single inductor and very few external components. Power supply solution size is minimized by a tiny 3mmx3mm package and a 2.5MHz switching frequency, which further reduces the size of external components.

Description

The ISL85033 is a dual standard buck regulator capable of 3A per channel continuous output current. With an input range of 4.5V to 28V, it provides a high frequency power solution for a variety of point of load applications. The PWM controller in the ISL85033 drives an internal switching N-Channel power MOSFET and requires an external Schottky diode to generate the output voltage. The integrated power switch is optimized for excellent thermal performance up to 3A of output current. The PWM regulator switches at a default frequency of 500kHz and it can be user programmed or synchronized from 300kHz to 2MHz. The ISL85033 utilizes peak current mode control to provide flexibility in component selection and minimize solution size. The protection features include overcurrent, UVLO and thermal overload protection. The ISL85033 is available in a small 4mmx4mm Thin Quad Flat No-Lead (TQFN) Pb-free package.

Description

The ISL8023, ISL8024 are highly efficient, monolithic, synchronous step-down DC/DC converters that can deliver 3A (ISL8023) or 4A (ISL8024) of continuous output current from a 2.7V to 5.5V input supply. The devices use current mode control architecture to deliver very low duty cycle operation at high frequency with fast transient response and excellent loop stability.

The ISL8023 and ISL8024 integrate a very low On-resistance P-Channel (45mΩ) high side FET and N-Channel (19mΩ) low side FET to maximize efficiency and minimize external component count. The 100% duty-cycle operation allows less than 200mV dropout voltage at 4A output current. The operation frequency of the pulse-width modulator (PWM) is adjustable from 500kHz to 4MHz. The default switching frequency of 1MHz is set by connecting the FS pin high, which allows for the use of small external components.

The ISL8023, ISL8024 can be configured for discontinuous or forced continuous operation at light load. Forced continuous operation reduces noise and RF interference while discontinuous mode provides higher efficiency by reducing switching losses at light loads.

Fault protection is provided by internal hiccup mode current limiting during short circuit and overcurrent conditions. Other protection, such as overvoltage and over-temperature are also integrated into the device. A power-good output voltage monitor indicates when the output is in regulation. The ISL8023, ISL8024 offer a 1ms Power-Good (PG) timer at power-up. When in shutdown, ISL8023, ISL8024 discharges the output capacitor through an internal soft-stop switch. Other features include internal fixed or adjustable soft-start and internal/external compensation.

The ISL8023 and ISL8024 are offered in a space saving 16 Ld 3x3 Pb-free QFN package with an exposed pad for improved thermal performance and 1mm maximum height. The complete converter occupies less than 0.22 in2 area.

Description

The Intersil ISL3232E and ISL4221E, ISL4223E devices are 2.7V to 5.5V powered RS-232 transmitters/receivers which meet ElA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 specifications, even at

VCC = 3.0V. Additionally, they provide ±15kV ESD protection (IEC61000-4-2 Air Gap and Human Body Model) on transmitter outputs and receiver inputs (RS-232 pins). Targeted applications are PDAs, Palmtops, and hand-held products where the low operational, and even lower standby, power consumption is critical. Efficient on-chip charge pumps, coupled with manual and automatic power-down functions, reduce the standby supply current to a 150nA trickle. Tiny 5mmx5mm Quad Flat No-Lead (QFN) packaging and the use of small, low value capacitors ensure board space savings as well. Data rates greater than 250kbps are guaranteed at worst case load conditions.

The ISL4221E is a 1 driver, 1 receiver device and the ISL3232E and ISL4223E are 2 driver,

2 receiver devices that, coupled with the 5mmx5mm QFN package, provide the industry's smallest, lowest power serial port suitable for PDAs, and hand-held applications. The 5mmx5mm QFN requires 40% less board area than a 20 Ld TSSOP, and is nearly 20% thinner.

The ISL4221E, ISL4223E versions feature an automatic power-down function that powers down the on-chip power supply and driver circuits. This occurs when an attached peripheral device is shut off or the RS-232 cable is removed, conserving system power automatically without changes to the hardware or operating system. It powers up again when a valid RS-232 voltage is applied to any receiver input.

Table 1 summarizes the features of the IC's, while Application Note AN9863 summarizes the features of each device comprising the 3V RS-232 family.

Description

The Intersil ICL32XX devices are 3.0V to 5.5V powered RS-232 transmitters/receivers which meet ElA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 specifications, even at VCC = 3.0V. Targeted applications are PDAs, Palmtops, and notebook and laptop computers where the low operational, and even lower standby, power consumption is critical. Efficient on-chip charge pumps, coupled with manual and enhanced automatic powerdown functions, reduce the standby supply current to a 1µA trickle. Small footprint packaging, and the use of small, low value capacitors ensure board space savings as well. Data rates greater than 1Mbps are guaranteed at worst case load conditions. This family is fully compatible with 3.3V only systems, mixed 3.3V and 5.0V systems, and 5.0V only systems.

The ICL3245 is a 3 driver, 5 receiver device that provides a complete serial port suitable for laptop or notebook computers. It also includes a noninverting always-active receiver for "wake-up" capability.

These devices, feature an enhanced automatic powerdown function which powers down the on-chip powersupply and driver circuits. This occurs when all receiver and transmitter inputs detect no signal transitions for a period of 30s. These devices power back up, automatically, whenever they sense a transition on any transmitter or receiver input.

Description

The ISL12027 device is a low power real time clock with timing and crystal compensation, clock/calender, power-fail indicator, two periodic or polled alarms, intelligent battery backup switching, CPU Supervisor and integrated 512x8-bit EEPROM, in 16 Byte per page format.

The oscillator uses an external, low-cost 32.768kHz crystal. The real time clock tracks time with separate registers for hours, minutes, and seconds. The device has calendar registers for date, month, year and day of the week. The calendar is accurate through 2099, with automatic leap year correction.

The ISL12027 and ISL12027A Power Control Settings are different. The ISL12027 uses the Legacy Mode Setting, and the ISL12027A uses the Standard Mode Setting. Applications that have VBAT > VDD will require only the ISL12027A.
